2. NFC Mechanism — Your Phone as the Key

You bring your smartphone close to the furniture. In a fraction of a second, the compartment opens. No app to install in most configurations — the NFC chip is integrated into the furniture and responds only to the authorised device.

How it works: Near Field Communication (NFC) enables data transfer at distances under 4 cm. The furniture's chip only responds to the device or card specifically programmed for that compartment.

Who it's for: tech-savvy users who always have their phone on hand. Ideal when multiple users need access (each with their own device). Compatible with modern iPhone and Android.

Security level: very high. Only the authorised device works. Access can be revoked or reprogrammed.

3. RFID Mechanism — Proximity Card or Keyfob

A keyfob, card or wristband activates opening when brought close. No direct contact, no friction. Works even with gloves.

How it works: Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) identifies the authorised device within a short radius. The reader is completely hidden inside the furniture — no visible panel, no external LED indicator.

Who it's for: those who prefer a dedicated physical object (not their phone) as the access method. Very popular for frequently accessed compartments. Compatible with ISO 14443 format cards.

Security level: very high. Cards can theoretically be cloned, so combining with a second layer (opening position) is recommended for high-value storage.

4. Push-to-Open Mechanism — Pressure at the Exact Point

No external device. No electronics. You press at the exact point on the surface with precise force, and the internal mechanism releases the panel. Only someone who knows where and how to press can open it.

How it works: a calibrated mechanical pressure mechanism (touch-latch or push-latch) responds only to pressure applied in a specific zone with the required force. No visible button, no indication of the zone.

Who it's for: those who don't want to depend on any electronic device or external object. Maximum simplicity, maximum discretion. Zero electrical failure risk.

5. Magnetic Mechanism — The Hidden Magnet

How it works: a high-force magnetic lock keeps the panel closed with precision. The opening magnet, calibrated to the same polarity and force, neutralises the lock when brought within the activation range.

Security level: medium. Any magnet of the correct size and force could activate the lock if the point is known. Recommended for frequently accessed compartments rather than high-value storage.

6. Biometric Mechanism — Your Fingerprint

Your fingerprint. Only yours. And those of whoever you choose to add. No key, no card, no phone. Literally only you can open it.

How it works: a capacitance fingerprint reader, invisibly integrated into the furniture surface, compares the presented fingerprint with those stored in local memory. No internet connection. No cloud. Biometric data never leaves the furniture.

Who it's for: those who need fast, exclusive access. Perfect for daily-use furniture (bedside table, desk) where convenience is critical. Also for high-value compartments where biometric security is a requirement.

Security level: very high. Fingerprints are unique and non-transferable. The reader is resistant to low-quality fake fingerprints.

7. Invisible Mechanical Mechanism — The Lock You Can't See

A classic high-security cylinder lock, completely integrated into the furniture design. No visible handle, no key slot on the exterior surface. You only know it exists if you know where to look.

How it works: the key acts on a cylinder hidden behind the panel or through an access point integrated into a decorative element of the furniture. The design eliminates any visual indicator of the lock's presence.

Who it's for: those who prefer proven mechanical security over electronics. No batteries, no firmware updates, no digital vulnerabilities. The physical key is the only access method.

Security level: very high, depending on the cylinder chosen. Available with certified high-security cylinders.

How to Choose the Right Mechanism

The choice depends on three factors: frequency of use, number of users and required security level.

• Daily use, single user: biometric or push-to-open
• Daily use, multiple users: NFC (each with their own device) or RFID (individual cards)
• Maximum invisibility, no electronics: hydraulic or magnetic

Can the mechanism be changed after receiving the furniture?
In some cases yes, depending on the original mechanism and the piece. Electronic mechanisms (NFC, RFID, biometric) are usually easier to replace. Ask before ordering if you have doubts.

What happens if the NFC or biometric electronics fail?
All furniture with electronic mechanisms includes a mechanical emergency access system. You're never locked out.

Do electronic mechanisms need a battery?
Yes. NFC, RFID and biometric mechanisms run on battery (typically a long-life lithium cell). The furniture alerts you when the battery is low before it runs out.

Which mechanism is hardest to discover for someone who doesn't know about it?
Hydraulic and magnetic are the hardest to discover, because they require no external object and have no visual element that gives them away. Push-to-open is third, because the pressure point has no markings.

Can I have two mechanisms on the same piece of furniture?
